Well this should not be of any shock.The team most dominant in the EPL needed to have a keeper who is loud and commands his box.Especially during the early days where the keepers do not get that much protection.Peter Schmeichel fits into that.He had a very strong presence and was a key part into making Manchester United into a mega force.

I can’t think of anyone who would give so much fear to the opponent attackers. Big, strong and agile that what makes a top goalkeeper and Peter Schmeichel is all of those. His physical presence at the back made Manchester United the most successful team in England. He commands well, distributes the ball and prevents the ball going in at any cost. What more do you need?

I know the choices of right backs are very limited but if you ask anyone who watches EPL regularly on who is the most complete defender right now.Most would say Azpilicueta.He does not get that much credit because he plays in a back 3 now but during the last few years,be it under Conte or Mourinho he has always remained consistent in whatever position he is playing.Unlike modern fullbacks who focus too much on attack and gets exposed in defense.Azpilicueta looks like a player who loves to defend and rarely gets beaten 1 on 1.

Top player for Chelsea. Very reliable in terms of attack and defense. Big, Strong and pacey too. Has notched a few crucial goals for Chelsea too. Not at this best for the 2 seasons but has been consistent and reliable for more than a decade.

In my opinion the best Centre Back the league has ever seen.He is a typical English centreback.Fast , Strong , Physical and does not mind putting his body on the line.What makes him stand apart from the rest of the typical English centre back is the way he captains his team and the level of consistency he has shown under different managers.An added bonus is the ability to score from headers
Rio Ferdinand
In my opinion there should be a centre back that puts the body on the line and there should be a centre back who is calm and has great positioning.The best defender in terms of calmness and positioning has to be Ferdinand.What made me chose him is the ability he reads the game and his tactical awareness.I have always thought Vidic is an average and rash player but playing with Ferdinand made him into a top player.Ferdinand is the sort of player who makes the players around him better by his calmness and his ability to relieve the pressure..It also helps that he always commands his defensive line as well

Sol Campbell
Fast, reads the game well, ball player and also an hard tackler. He is one of the few reasons why Arsenal went on an unbeaten run. You don’t lose a game when you defend well and Sol Campbell defended well with his heart and might and at the same time was capable of building up from the back to accommodate to the Wenger style of football.

I’m not going to leave out my Manchester United Legend. Ball player, Composed and also a very capable leader. His partnership with VIdic made Manchester United rock solid at the back. Always read the game well to sweep the ball out of danger. Also very important player so Manchester United could keep the ball or even build up from the back.

I still think at 1 point of time Ashley Cole was the best leftback in the world.It is a shame that he does not get enough recognition and is always underrated. Playing under Arsene Wenger made him a constant attacking threat in the left back position and playing under Mourinho made him solid defensively The best way to describe him in my opinion is that he attacks like a Brazilian fullback and defends like a typical English defender.

Ran up the flanks tirelessly. Managed to hold his position at Arsenal, Chelsea and England for a very very long time. He was good at both attacking and defending. I am safe to say he was the only one to keep Ronaldo at bay every time he met on the pitch with him. A few players come close to his calibre but I’m sure to say he is and will be the best English Full back for a very long time.
